Two years ago, GoldLink dropped by YouTube music series COLORS to perform “Rough Soul,” which has since racked up more than 12 million views. He recently returned to the channel for a freestyle titled “Justine’s Interlude.”

The DMV rapper with the liquid flow rapped vulnerable, introspective verses over a gentle beat produced by WaveIQ. Though many of his bars addressed the titular Justine, he also discussed the late Mac Miller: “Mac died and I couldn’t talk, couldn’t bear the thought / Two days before it we was talking about love and loss / Then he mentioned Ariana momma and newer songs / I never told a soul, but I knew he was dead all along.”
