Watch Freddie Gibbs rap “Scottie Beam” on ‘Fallon’

‘Alfredo,’ his album with The Alchemist, was nominated for a Grammy.

Last week, Freddie Gibbs appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon with The Alchemist to perform their song “Scottie Beam.”

The duo, decked out in fancy suits, delivered a classy performance from a diner booth before a table heaving with plates of pasta—a clear nod to their joint album Alfredo. The table also held an ‘album of the year’ trophy in the shape of the spaghetti on the album cover, a nod to the record’s nomination for Best Rap Album at the 2021 Grammy Awards that took place Sunday night. Alfredo ultimately lost out to Nas’ King’s Disease.

Alfredo was released last May. Guests included Rick Ross (on “Scottie Beam”), Benny the Butcher (“Frank Lucas”), Tyler, the Creator and Conway the Machine (“Babies & Fools”).

Gibbs has stayed busy since Alfredo, collaborating with Schoolboy Q and Big Sean as well as dropping guest verses on songs by Joyce Wrice, The Colleagues and Problem. Months after Alfredo, The Alchemist dropped his own album, the mostly instrumental A Doctor, Painter & An Alchemist Walk Into a Bar.
