Benny the Butcher has shared a video for “Famous,” a cut from his Hit-Boy-produced album, Burden of Proof.
The clip, directed by Wizard, captures the Griselda Records celebrating the release of his new album while surrounded by flashing cameras and reporters. However, he still doesn’t feel like a celebrity.
“What’s fame to a n***a like me? You gotta think / ’Cause I’m from the cocaine era, we extinct,” he spits. “’Cause I don’t feel famous / Ah, three Rollies, two cribs, six figures / And I still don’t feel famous.”
Benny explained the song’s lyrics on Genius. “People think just because I got this money that my life is perfect,” he said. “But you don’t know sometimes the money make things worse. Sometimes success makes things worse. People look at you different. People expect more things from you. We just regular people; we’re not perfect. We learning as we go.”
Benny dropped Burden of Proof back in October. The album featured appearances from Freddie Gibbs, Lil Wayne, Big Sean, Westside Gunn, Conway the Machine and more. Last month, the rapper was shot during an attempted robbery in Houston, Texas, and sustained injuries to his leg.
