Tyler, the Creator shares “rough draft” from ‘Flower Boy’ sessions

And we’re wondering why “Rose Tinted Cheeks” didn’t make the final cut.

Tyler, the Creator yesterday continued his hot streak of dropping new tracks with the release of “Rose Tinted Cheeks.” Although the Odd Future rapper claims it’s a “rough draft” of a track from the Flower Boy sessions, it sounds like a finished product.

The soulful tune channels Prince, Outkast and Anderson .Paak in the best way possible. Tyler’s baritone is pitched up on the hook—he had originally intended for a female voice on it—while the production flows with languid beats, wah-wah guitars and funky basslines.

And the verses are as lyrical and playful as anything from Tyler, the Masturbator Creator: “My eyes, like jeans too tight, I couldn’t take ’em off you / You’re precious metal I was a magnet just looking.”
