Tyler, the Creator drops ‘The Grinch’-inspired EP

Featuring collabs with Santigold, Ryan Beatty and Jerry Paper.

We’ve hardly entered Christmas season, but Tyler, the Creator’s already in a giving mood. Today, he dropped a surprise ten-minute EP, Music Inspired by Illumination & Dr Seuss’ the Grinch.

We already knew Tyler was involved in the animated film, seeing as he’d put out his own take on “You’re a Mean One, Mr Grinch” a few weeks back. That track—as well as his original song, “I am the Grinch,” that he made for the film—are not on this new EP, though.

Some standouts include “Lights Out,” the collab with Santigold and Ryan Beatty, and “Big Bag,” the only straightforward rap track of the lot. The EP is bookended by instrumentals: the piano-led “Whoville,” named after the film’s fictional town, and the jazzy “Cindy Lou’s Wish.”
