Tyler, the Creator drops surprise track, “OKRA”

He calls it a “throwaway track,” but its heavy bass and dense verses are anything but.

Tyler, the Creator returns to the fold with a surprise track, “OKRA,” dropped Thursday. It’s the Odd Future rapper’s second song after releasing the critically acclaimed Flower Boy last July, and it bears a completely different vibe.

Unlike Flower Boy’s introspection and emotional maturity, “OKRA” is all about Tyler flexing hard. He raps about Balenciagas, his Grammy nomination, diamonds and the usual fixings over minimalist beats and grim, heavy bass. Even Timothée Chamalet—and his “glowing” skin—gets a shout out, for reasons many have speculated but only Tyler would know.
