Trey Songz was recently arrested for an alleged altercation with the police during the Kansas City Chiefs/Buffalo Bills NFL playoff game.
According to footage obtained by TMZ, a man who looked like Songz was seen in a scuffle during Sunday’s match after the authorities reportedly tried to put handcuffs on him. Witnesses claim that several football fans had earlier confronted Songz and his crew for disobeying the game’s COVID safety rules and refusing to wear masks.
When security told them to leave, the rapper refused and officers from the Kansas City police and Jackson County sheriff’s office were called for backup. Soon after the situation escalated into a physical altercation with Songz allegedly punching one of the officers, Billboard reported.
The rapper was arrested and held in custody overnight but was released shortly after. No other details surrounding the arrest have been revealed as officials are still investigating the incident, NBC reported. It is also unclear if other arrests were made on that day.
In October last year, Songz revealed that he had tested positive for the novel coronavirus. At the time, the rapper promised to practice proper safety hygiene, including wearing a mask, and adhere to safety protocols. That same month, Songz also dropped his album, Back Home.
