Tory Lanez and Kevin Gates have collaborated on a new song from the Road to Fast 9 mixtape, “Convertible Burt.”
The forthcoming tape, which is inspired by the Fast & Furious films, will drop alongside the ninth movie in the franchise next April. On the mixtape’s latest offering—which shares a name with Miami entrepreneur Convertible Burt—Lanez and Gates swap energetic bars over Basobeats’ flute-flecked production.
“N***a, don’t play on my turf / Play with this choppa, I bet this shit rain on your Earth,” Lanez spits. “You want a wifey? You said that you’ll give her your worth / I hit that shit, it was dirt / Then I slid off in a flirt / Felt like Convertible Burt.”
Lanez recently jumped on a remix of Jack Harlow’s “What’s Poppin” alongside DaBaby and Lil Wayne, and before that dropped “Temperature Rising,” his first independent single after closing his major label deal with The New Toronto 3.
On the other hand, Gates recently released the tracks “Grandmotha Grave” and “Still Hold Up.” He’s also put out a few freestyles: one over Fivio Foreign’s “Wetty” and an official version of his Fire in the Booth rap.
“Convertible Burt” comes a few weeks after the first track from Road to Fast 9: Lil Baby and YoungBoy Never Broke Again’s “One Shot.” Check out the new track below and get ready for the full tape in 2021:
