Tory Lanez drops fifth installment of ‘Chixtape’

A collection of 2000s-inspired R&B jams.

The fifth installment of Tory Lanez’s Chixtape series is out now.

The Canadian rapper pivots to R&B on his latest project, putting his own spin on classics like “Foolish” by Ashanti (“A Fools Tale”), “Crying Out for Me” by Mario (“The Cry”) and “I’m Sprung” by T-Pain (“Jerry Sprunger”). According to an interview with Billboard, Lanez worked alongside the original artists for his rendition of their music.

“I think it’s more of a my-world-meets-your-world kind of situation,” he said of the collaborations on his new mixtape. “I’ve always wanted to say something along the lines of ‘I did this’ or have something like, ‘I worked with this person that I’ve always wanted to work with.’ I always wanted to have those accolades and accomplishments. So now that I’m at this point where I can reach out and my arm can actually reach [these artists] and I can get that record done, it’s just a dream come true for me.”

Chixtape 5 also features appearances from Snoop Dogg, The-Dream, Lloyd, Lil Wayne and Mýa, among others. Stream it below:
