TI’s new album, Dime Trap, is “coming freakishly soon.”
“The wait is almost over,” Tip tweeted last night. He also revealed that comedian Dave Chappelle would feature on the record as “the voice in my head.”
Hype for Tip’s tenth album has been building for a while now. Earlier this month, it was announced that the trap pioneer had signed to Epic Records to release Dime Trap. TI also dropped two new songs: “Wraith” with Yo Gotti, and “Jefe” with Meek Mill.
TI has also said he tried to treat Dime Trap “like a TED talk for trap n****s.”
“It’s a conversation of where trap music began and the growth and evolution to where it is now, especially what I’ve learned and what the people have learned from that journey,” he told Vibe. “If anyone cares about the orders of operation, here it is for you.”
Yesterday’s tweet also included a short video that slowly unveiled the jaw-droppingly intricate album cover, designed by American artist Kris Kuksi. It’s soundtracked by a snippet of a new song that sounds just as ornate, thanks to its organ-based beat.
