Teen who tried to steal a plane to see Famous Dex gets probation

The 18-year-old wanted to see the “Pick it Up” rapper perform in Illinois.

A teenager from Arkansas who tried to steal a jet so he could see Famous Dex in concert has been given a five-year term of felony probation.

Last July, Zemarcuis Scott jumped the fence of Texarkana Regional Airport in an attempt to steal an American Eagle twin-engine jet. He was sitting in the pilot’s seat when he was arrested.

He pleaded guilty to charges of attempted theft of property and commercial burglary last Thursday, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported. Besides probation, Scott must also pay a $1,000 fine and court costs, and participate in any mental health treatment deemed necessary.

Under the impression that flying the plane was “just a matter of pulling levers and pushing buttons,” as the Democrat-Gazette put it, the 18-year-old had planned to jet to Illinois to see the “Pick it Up” rapper in concert.

Though he never made it to the show, Scott is now on his idol’s radar: Reading about his dedication apparently brought the rapper to tears, Dex revealed in an Instagram post.
