The Detroit emcee, on the other hand, survived the shooting.

On Tuesday night, Tee Grizzley was reportedly the target of a drive-by shooting in his hometown of Detroit, which took the life of his manager and aunt Jobina Brown.

According to reports from TMZ and The Blast, the rapper was on his way to the studio with Brown and his driver when the shooter attacked the Cadillac Escalade. Brown, who sat in the back of the vehicle, was allegedly hit with a “hail of bullets.” She was immediately taken to the hospital but was later pronounced dead. Brown was 41.

Insiders told Complex that Grizzley and his driver managed to escape the shooting unhurt, but updates on their current condition remain unknown. Local police added that they are currently investigating the case, though no suspect has been identified yet.

Throughout his career, Grizz has always spoken fondly of Brown, calling her his “big homie.” In a 2018 interview with Detroit Metro Times, the rapper revealed that he sent his aunt on a trip to Bora Bora following his breakout success.
