Young MA has come through with a bite-sized new project for her fans titled Red Flu. The seven-track EP features the new York rapper—and no one else.
Speaking with Complex, MA revealed she’s saving features for her upcoming sophomore album. She also explained why she chose to veer away from the vulnerable lyricism showcased on her debut album, Herstory in the Making, and instead get back to her vengeful rap roots.
“I’m on my savage shit on this EP. I had to bring the old MA out on this one,” she said. “I felt like my album was more so a journey of what I was going through. With this EP, it was like a short frustration of things that I put into seven songs… I didn’t really want to get too sentimental on this project because I didn’t feel like it was the time.”
While Young MA hasn’t yet offered an official release date for the follow-up to Herstory in the Making, the LP is expected to arrive later this year. Herstory featured tracks such as “Big,” “My Hitta,” “Numb,” “Bipolar” and “She Like I’m Like.”
