Isaiah Rashad has returned with his long-awaited sophomore album, The House is Burning.
Zay is joined by his fellow Top Dawg Entertainment labelmates SZA and Jay Rock on the record, as well as Lil Uzi Vert, Smino, 6LACK, Duke Deuce, Jay Worthy, Doechii and YGTUT. Meanwhile, beatsmiths Kenny Beats, Devin Malik, Kal Banx and more handle production.
The House is Burning marks Rashad’s first album in five years, following his 2016 debut effort, The Sun’s Tirade. The record was also created while the 30-year-old sought help for his drug addiction and, as he told Billboard, all of its songs were recorded while he was sober.
“It challenged my confidence because I had to rely on myself. At first it was hard, but once I had some sessions with Kenny Beats, he taught me some of the methods that he used with Key and what he seen Young Thug do and how they get comfortable to say whatever’s on their mind,” he told the outlet. “Then I worked with my n***a Kal Banx, and he’s on a good majority on the project—and my homie Henry that my manager put me on to. They gave me the space and time to practice that shit.”
