Spillage Village make major label debut with ‘Spilligion’

The supergroup have finally arrived.

Supergroup Spillage Village have made their major label debut with their sophomore album, Spilligion.

The 12-track album features a long list of collaborators like Chance the Rapper, Ari Lennox and Lucky Daye. Spillage Village itself features a large crew of members, including Dreamville standouts JID and EarthGang among their number, as well as 6LACK, Mereba, Jurdan Bryant, Hollywood JB and Benji.

Defined by their experimental, genre-fluid output, the group told Rolling Stone that their recording process helped them flex their versatility. That process, they said, entailed being holed up in the same house in Atlanta together for two months.

“We tried a lot of experimental shit in the midst of being rapping-ass n***as, because we just love music,” EarthGang’s WowGr8 said. “Whenever we found something that was more genre-bending and it worked out and sounded fire, that was always a big moment.”

Spilligion was previewed by the adventurous singles and videos “End of Daze,” “Baptize” and “Hapi.” The record follows Spillage Village’s 2016 self-released album, Bears Like This Too Much.
