Smino has released a new single, “Rice & Gravy.”

Produced by frequent collaborator and fellow Zero Fatigue member Monte Booker, the track features woozy keys over booming trap beats.

Smino raps about his upbringing, reminiscing about his childhood staple of rice and gravy on the song’s hook. “North County, yeah, that’s where my blood, my family at / I spill it out for the family, yeah, I know,” he raps. The cover art of “Rice & Gravy” also extends the family theme with a photo of and hand-lettering by Smino’s nephew.

The rapper took to Twitter to express his joy at being able to release new music, teasing fans with more new music to come.

Smino teamed up with Robert Glasper for a remix of “So.Incredible.pkg,” originally by Denzel Curry and Kenny Beats, in February. The rapper also released a music video for “MLK Dr,” a song honouring civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr, earlier this year.
