slowthai turns into cake in new video for “Feel Away”

The track is dedicated to the UK rapper’s late younger brother.

slowthai has dropped a surreal new video for his latest song, “Feel Away.”

The track, which features vocals from James Blake and was produced by Mount Kimbie, is dedicated to the UK rapper’s late younger brother, Michael John. “Today is the anniversary of my baby brother passing,” slowthai wrote on Twitter. “This is one of the biggest days of the year for me and my family, and with my whole heart I can say I’ve never missed anyone as much as I miss him, I know you’re looking down on us everyday with your smile.”

In the accompanying video, slowthai’s world is turned upside down when he becomes pregnant and his girlfriend leaves him for a doctor. The rapper soon goes into labor, but his body soon turns into cake, which is soon eaten by the maternity ward staff. But as it turns out, it was all a dream, as slowthai and his girlfriend sleep soundly in the ward after a difficult birth.

“This song is about the doubts we have whether it be within friendships, your partner or with our family,” slowthai said of the track in a statement. “It’s about putting yourself in the other person’s shoes so you have a better understanding of the situation.”
