slowthai, Skepta recreate horror classics in “Cancelled” video

The collaboration will appear on slowthai’s sophomore album, ‘Tyron.’

slowthai and Skepta have released a bone-chilling video for their new collaboration, “Cancelled.”

In the clip, the duo recreate scenes from an array of classic horror films, including American Psycho, Silence of the Lambs, Nightmare on Elm Street, Candyman and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The visual also features cameos from Kwes Darko, Krash and SAMO.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, slowthai revealed that “Cancelled” was born out of a conversation he had with Skepta after his infamous appearance at the 2020 NME Awards.

“When you’re not a certain way and people tell you who you are, you doubt yourself. If you’re fully against stuff and people are saying, ‘That’s you’—you can’t fathom it,” he said. “So, I’m sitting there, I’m in a dark headspace, and [Skepta’s] like, ‘This isn’t your defining moment, bro. Use this. Come out stronger, come out harder. Show the world what you’re about. Fuck all that worrying. Just be you and live your life. It’s rock and roll; you’re a rockstar.’ From that, we just banged out that tune.”

“Cancelled” will appear on slowthai’s upcoming album, TYRON, due out this Friday. The record will also feature songs such as “Mazza,” “Thoughts” and “Feel Away.”
