slowthai has shared a trippy visual for “Mazza,” featuring A$AP Rocky.
Directed by THE REST, the clip captures the duo as they trash their hotel rooms while on a wild—and, at times, spooky—psychedelic trip. The visual features chaotic filters and room-bending edits, as seen through the eyes of slowthai, while Rocky hallucinates blood dripping down the walls of his hotel room.
“Feeling like these drugs made me better than I was / But, I never felt love before the drugs,” slowthai spits. “Feel to revert to my old ways / Cricket tickets, wraps of cocaine.”
“Mazza” will appear on slowthai’s forthcoming sophomore album, TYRON. The record, due out February 5, will also feature appearances from Skepta, Dominic Fike, James Blake, Denzel Curry and more. On Twitter, slowthai revealed that he and his team had discussed postponing the LP due to Britain’s current lockdown, but said he’s decided to push forward with its release.
“It’s almost [been] a year since this virus took hold of our world and shattered the lives of thousands,” he wrote. “Deaths, unemployment, rise in domestic abuse and suicide, business closures, educational crisis and a rise in homelessness to name a few of the overwhelming negatives this pandemic has caused.
“Earlier today me and my team had a conversation about pushing back TYRON due to the national lockdown and not being able to bring to life all the ideas we had planned for you all but I cannot allow this virus to keep holding us back.”
