English grime rapper slowthai pays homage to two classic films, A Nightmare on Elm Street and Groundhog Day, in his new video for “Peace of Mind.”
In the clip, the up-and-coming rapper repeatedly relives being woken up from a nightmare by his alarm clock, only to be sucked into his bed, Johnny Depp-style, and end up in a dream that’s even worse. His hallucinatory dreams get increasingly trippy and gory, moving from plain film sets to having his skull cut open.
Last month, slowthai released another film-inspired video, taking cues from Trainspotting for “Doorman.” Both tracks are likely to be featured on his upcoming debut album, Nothing Great About Britain, out later this year.
