See Phife Dawg in new video for posthumous track “Nutshell Pt 2”

Featuring Busta Rhymes and Redman.

“Nutshell Pt 2,” the posthumous Phife Dawg single released in February, has gotten a music video.

The clip, directed by Tony Reames, features footage of the late A Tribe Called Quest member spiritedly rapping the song alongside Busta Rhymes and Redman. “Shut your mouth, use your inner voice, stay in your lane / Inaugurate those with incentive to innovate / Insistent that those who inspire we will initiate,” Phife spits.

The video was released yesterday (March 22) on the fifth anniversary of Phife’s death from complications related to diabetes. He was 45 years old.

A posthumous Phife Dawg album, which was announced in November, is still in the works and is expected to drop later this year. Phife’s manager and right-hand man Dion Liverpool, aka DJ Rasta Root, told Complex that it will be titled Forever.

“Even though the family, the estate, and myself are completing Forever, I am so proud of Phife on this one,” he said. “He always spoke about giving back to his fans, they were very important to him. I know he would want them to have this album as an extension of himself.”
