Saba has returned with two new singles: “So and So” and the Tobi Lou-assisted “Areyoudown? Pt 2.”
In a press release, the Chicago rapper explained his inspiration behind the two tracks: “I was talking with some friends recently and we were talking about vulnerability. My idea or explanation of it, immediately went to dealing with adversity and sharing that experience of overcoming it.
“Everybody kind of came to that conclusion for it. And another friend brought up the fact that sharing joy and sharing happiness is also vulnerable,” Saba added. “And I think in terms of something like this, like for me, I’m way more nervous about these songs because it’s been so long since I’ve put out songs that felt like these. We’re just having fun in both of them, and that’s us in real life most of the time.”
“So and So” arrived alongside an Ian Lipton-directed clip which follows the rapper who walks along a countryside covered with clothesline while rapping the track. “I don’t know so and so, who may assume / Staying at home, I’m low-key / We can all rise or fall, this ain’t before / The fame is taking over,” Saba spits.
Saba recently teamed up with Denzel Curry for “Something in the Water,” and appeared on Jean Deaux’s April single “Moody!”.Last October, he linked up with Noname and Smino to debut their new group Ghetto Sage with “Häagen Dazs.”
