Run the Jewels tap Royal Blood for remix of “The Ground Below”

Check out the “Royal Jewels Mix.”

Run the Jewels have joined forces with British rock duo Royal Blood for a “Royal Jewels Mix” of their RTJ4 track, “The Ground Below.”

The two duos match each other’s energy in the sizzling new rework, which they describe as “a defiant, powerful and completely overhauled sequel.”

“We’re big fans of each other’s bands,” RTJ’s El-P explained in a press statement. “A while back, we hung out and played each other songs we love—one of mine was Gang oOf Four’s ‘Ether,’ which I later sampled for ‘The Ground Below.’”

“[Killer] Mike and I thought it would be cool to get Royal Blood’s take on ‘The Ground Below’—we sent it off to them and they fucking killed it,” he added. Royal Blood returned the love: “Royal Jewels is the ultimate dream come true scenario. It’s an alliance we wish long continues.”

Run The Jewels dropped off RTJ4—which featured “Out of Sight” with 2 Chainz, “Ooh La La” featuring Greg Nice and DJ Premier, and “Yankee and the Brave (ep 4)”—in June. More recently, they contributed the song “No Save Point” to the video game Cyberpunk 2077. Royal Blood, on the other hand, previewed their upcoming third album with the single “Trouble’s Coming” in September.
