Run the Jewels return with new song, “Yankee and the Brave (ep 4)”

They dropped the ‘RTJ4’ cut on Instagram.

Run the Jewels are back: The duo of Killer Mike and El-P dropped the song “Yankee and the Brave (ep 4)” on Sunday.

Run the Jewels went on Instagram Live to premiere the song, later leaving it up exclusively on their Instagram TV. “Yankee and the Brave (ep 4)” finds the two spitting about cutting down their rivals, their loyalty to each other and police brutality (“The crooked copper got the proper, I put lead in his eye / Plus we heard he murdered a black child so none of us cry”).

It’s a hard-hitting comeback track for Run the Jewels, whose last record (the simply titled RTJ3) was released in 2016. They’ve been dormant save a few releases: Last year, they featured on “3 Tearz” by Danny Brown and collaborated with DJ Shadow on “Kings & Queens.” In 2018, they contributed “Let’s Go (the Royal We)” to the soundtrack of Marvel film Venom.

There’s still no word on when “Yankee and the Brave (ep 4)” will go wide on streaming services, or when RTJ4 will be released. While you wait for more details, hear the new song below:
