Rubi Rose drops debut mixtape, ‘For the Streets’

It includes a collab with Future and PARTYNEXTDOOR.

Up-and-coming rapper Rubi Rose has unveiled her debut mixtape, For the Streets.

The Lexington native holds nothing back on the fiery eight-track project, spitting potent and sultry bars over bouncy trap-inspired beats. The mixtape is bookended by confident anthems, “Intro / Cardi B Interlude” and “Viral.” The former features a sample of Cardi praising Rose’s impeccable flow, while the latter hears the rising rapper shrugging off messy exes.

“Ruby got them shook, I can tell that he’s insecure,” she raps on “Viral.” “Internet fein, I’mma give him what he itchin’ for / Look for what he do for the pussy I can’t even trust him / Maybe I’m asking for too much if it’s out of your budget.”

But the highlight of For the Streets came in the form of “Whole Lotta Liquor,” a saucy collaboration with Future and PARTYNEXTDOOR. On it, Rose and Future exchange sexually charged verses, while PARTYNEXTDOOR handles the woozy chorus. “Whole lotta liquor, whole lotta liquor in me / I do tight, tight melodies / I do crime, soft felonies / Lotta liquor in me, lotta, lotta liquor in me,” he sings.

For the Streets is Rose’s first-ever project after catapulting onto the music scene with her 2019 hit single, “Big Mouth.” Since then, she’s released several other loosies including “Hit Yo Dance” with Yella Breezy and NLE Choppa, and “Pretty MF.” In August, Rose made a brief cameo in Cardi and Megan Thee Stallion’s music video for “WAP.”
