Royce da 5’9” drops “Field Negro”

The politically charged single takes a few shots at Wale and Kanye West.

Royce da 5’9” has dropped a biting new single, “Field Negro.”

On the self-produced track, the Book of Ryan rapper enters the political discourse, taking aim at racism and poverty in America. “Children is dying / Women is crying / We under attack, fool / What a better time to be famous, black and impactful,” he raps.

He even gets a few shots at Kanye West and Wale in while recounting how he’s persevered in the music industry: “I stayed active every time a door slammed in my face / Stayed at the door, I stayed knocking, I stayed rockin’ / I did it my way, without all the complaining and all the whining all day, like Kanye and Wale.”
