Rich Brian releases sophomore album, ‘The Sailor’

He also dropped a video for non-album track, “I Just Destroy ’Em.”

Indonesian rapper Rich Brian has released his sophomore effort, The Sailor.

Consisting of 12 songs, the album includes contributions from labelmate Joji and Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA on the tracks “Where Does the Time Go” and “Rapapapa,” respectively. The LP also features the previously released “Kids” and the Bekon-assisted “Yellow.”

Prior to the record’s release, Brian teased the drop with a video for a short, non-album track, “I Just Destroy ’Em.” The Sing J Lee-directed video opens on a close-up of Brian’s face as he raps the hard-hitting track. The camera then zooms out, revealing his entire family posing together in front of the Indonesian flag.

Brian recently explained the meaning of the album’s title to Complex: “Just like me growing up, coming here to this country, being an explorer, and being curious about everything—just exploring uncharted territory. That’s one of the more general meanings. The Sailor is someone who is curious, an explorer, and just not afraid to explore new stuff.”
