Reason takes shots at Logic on new single, “The Soul (Pt 2)”

The sequel to his 2018 song, “The Soul.”

Reason has released “The Soul (Pt 2),” the sequel to his 2018 song, “The Soul.”

On the track, the Top Dawg Entertainment rapper reflects on his career and voices his frustration over being overlooked. “In a? world full of talented talent there’s still beginners / We work to stand out, it panned out, we became them n***as / Team of Avengers, ironic, showed up with vision / Hard work and persistence, look ‘Reason’ that definition,” he raps.

Later in the track, Reason also claims that his name often gets confused with Logic’s, a comparison he finds offensive: “See y’all mistake my name for Logic’s, y’all got me fucked up / How you compare a n***a that take from the culture / Versus a n***a that’s for it? This shit getting boring.”

Earlier this year, Reason released the songs “Might Not Make it” and “Pop Shit,” which are expected to appear on his upcoming sophomore album, New Beginnings. The rapper has yet to announce a release date for the record.
