Reason samples the late MF DOOM on “Extinct (Extended)”

Also featuring Joey Bada$$, Westside Boogie, Denzel Curry and Jack Harlow.

Reason has dropped “Extinct (Extended),” featuring Joey Bada$$, Westside Boogie, Denzel Curry and Jack Harlow.

The song samples “Pennyroyal” by the late rapper MF DOOM, from his Metalfingers Presents: Special Herbs series. The track’s release on December 31, 2020, coincided with the announcement of DOOM’s death—the musician had passed on October 31 last year.

In a now-deleted tweet, Reason noted that he “didn’t plan to drop [the song] the day Doom left us,” according to UPROXX. The rapper later paid tribute to the late rapper on Instagram: “Rest In Power MF DOOM.”

“Extinct (Extended)” is a reworked version of “Extinct” from Reason’s 2020 album New Beginnings. The original rendition of the song featured fellow Top Dawg Entertainment labelmate Isaiah Rashad and JID.
