Reason has returned with some heat in the form of a new song, “High Hopes.” It follows his June release, “Truth,” and a guest verse on Dreamville’s Revenge of the Dreamers III.

“I feel like I’m Michael Vick, look at how they did Mike / Look at how they did Bill / These people a Bill King then get a king killed / Especially a black king, ’cause they know our kings real,” the Top Dawg Entertainment emcee spits over a busy beat by DJ Khalil and Vohn Beatz.

In Reason’s telling, the song wasn’t supposed to be released. But after fans clamored for it on Instagram, TDE relented. “This one feels good because y’all did this,” the California rapper later told his fans on Twitter. “This record was not supposed to drop but the pressure from y’all got it out! Love y’all for that!”
