Top Dawg Entertainment rappers Reason and Ab-Soul have linked up on a new collab, “Flick it Up.”
On the old-school track, Reason pays homage to his rap heroes, such as Jay-Z and Kanye West. “Comin’ up as a kid I was tryna be Jay / I was tryna be Ye, I was tryna be Wayne / Now kids say they tryna be Reason / Feel good, n***a still can’t believe it,” he raps.
Ab-Soul jumps in during the second half, delivering a rhythmic verse that references various Marvel characters and movies: “I got at least infinity flows, abstract, asshole / Ab-Soul, infinity stone, end game for my enemy, yo / Pen game Incredible Hulk, big fangs incredible bark / Big Dawg on T-O-P, R-A-P-G-O-D.”
“Flick it Up” is the latest release from Reason, following “Same Ol Shit” and “High Hopes.” On the other hand, Ab-Soul recently joined Kembe X, Zacari and Jay Rock on “Raised a Fool.”
