Over Mother’s Day weekend, Rapsody took some time to honor her mom with a new track, “Phylicia,” featuring Buddy.

On the pleasantly simple song, which was produced by 9th Wonder, the North Carolina rapper dedicates verses to her mother’s advice, good looks and their loving relationship. Buddy supplies the melodic hooks.

“Phylicia” is a sweet gesture from Rapsody, and not at all surprising when you remember she named her last album, Laila’s Wisdom, after her paternal grandmother.
