Quelle Chris explores the use of “Guns” on new track

“At its core it’s about things that can be weaponized for good or evil.”

Detroit-based rapper Quelle Chris speaks on the polarizing issue of firearms on his new song, “Guns.”

Chris contemplates the use of weapons on the poignant track, rapping over a layered, piano-led melody. “Kelly lit her school up like it’s 4th of July / Where she from them 22s more patriotic than pie / New year shoot up the sky / Shooters boot up and ride / Po-pos show up and fire / Know there’s nowhere to hide,” he spits.

“‘Guns’ is an arsenal of both sounds, styles and subjects. At its core it’s about things that can be weaponized for good or evil, including ourselves,” Quelle told Complex. “The words we say, what we fear, how we love, how we live, what we ingest, what we believe in, who we idolize, shit like that. Somewhat a sonic study of the question, ‘Do guns kill people or do people kill people?’”
