Polo G has teamed up with Lil Wayne on his newest single, “Gang Gang.”
In the Roscoe-directed music video, the two rappers host a late-night house party during a potent thunderstorm. As the duo spit verses, their guests visit packed diners, shoot hoops, and smoke joints.
“Runnin’ from the jakes, block hot like I’m Wayne / Spend a whole mil’ on the watch and the chain / I’m just tryna put a lock on the game / Hot shit from this Glock when it flame,” Polo raps on the track’s chorus.
Lil Wayne—who was one of Polo G’s biggest formative influences, as he shared in a 2019 XXL interview—delivers a characteristically epic verse: “Soon as I touch down, them pussy feds be hot on me / Heard n***as got money all on my head, tell ’em come crown the king / Let the work thaw out for fourteen days, that’s quarantine / I’ll pour my heart out before my lean, baby, no R&B,” he spits.
The single will be part of Polo G’s next album, Hall of Fame, which is slated for release in June. “Gang Gang” follows his previous singles: April’s “Rapstar,” as well as “GNF (OKOKOK)” and “Epidemic.” Hall of Fame will be Polo G’s third album, following 2020’s The Goat.
The Chicago rapper also released a freestyle in March where he rhymed over three viral hits: SpotemGottem’s “BeatBox,” CJ’s “Whoopty” and Coi Leray’s “No More Parties.” He also recently contributed to the soundtrack for the film Boogie, which tells the story of Chinese-American basketball phenom, Alfred “Boogie” Chin.
