Pharrell Williams, Chad Hugo to reunite as The Neptunes

New bangers incoming.

The Neptunes, the 2000s production duo comprising Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo, are making their long-awaited comeback.

In a recent conversation with Clash Music, Hugo revealed that he’s been busy “focussing on The Neptunes stuff, getting back on The Neptunes grind.” “We’re doing a couple of things,” he said. “There’s a video game soundtrack that’s in the works right now that I can’t speak about, I’m not supposed to, but uh, it’s in the works right now.”

The producer also added that he and Pharrell have been recently in the studio with a number of artists including Jay-Z, Miley Cyrus, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Nas X and Kaytranada. Rex Orange County, Snoh Aalegra and G-Eazy are also on the list.

The Neptunes’ last collaboration was with Justin Timberlake for his 2018 album, Man of the Woods. In 2017, the music-making duo teamed up for NO_ONE EVER REALLY DIES, an album Pharrell released under his NERD project.

In November, the pair were nominated for the 2020 Songwriters Hall of Fame, alongside OutKast, Patti Smith and Mariah Carey, among others. The final inductees will be announced at the Awards Gala in June.
