Pharoahe Monch’s trio TH1RT3EN unveil debut album

‘A Magnificent Day For an Exorcism’ features Cypress Hill and Smithsonian.

Pharoahe Monch’s trio TH1RT3EN—rounded out by drummer Daru Jones and guitarist Marcus Machado—have unleashed their debut album, A Magnificent Day For an Exorcism.

The 13-track record features a number of the group’s previously released singles, such as “Fight” with Cypress Hill, “666 (Three Six Word Stories)” and “Cult 45.” It also includes “The Magician,” “Scarecrow” and “Fight,” all three of which the trio previewed last week during their appearance on NPR’s Tiny Desk.

“We’ve always done socially and politically aware music, but I’m tired of this ‘love will win’ nonsense,” Monch previously told NPR of the group and their music. “Love may be the most powerful vibrating force, but consciousness is spreading and it’s impossible not to be more aware of the evil that has kept the world in complete darkness. TH1RT3EN is the musical personification of me and my comrades at combat.”

Last year, Monch dropped the song “Same Sh!t, Different Toilet.” He had re-released his debut album Internal Affairs the year before. Stream A Magnificent Day For an Exorcism below:
