OutKast have announced a 20th anniversary reissue of their landmark fourth studio album, Stankonia.
Originally released on October 30, 2000 via LaFace Records, the record spawned platinum hits in tracks like “Ms Jackson,” “So Fresh, So Clean” and “BOB (Bombs Over Baghdad).” In 2001, the LP won the hip hop duo—comprising André 3000 and Big Boi—the Grammy Awards for Best Rap Album and Best Rap Performance By a Duo or Group for “Ms Jackson.” Stankonia was also up for Grammy Album of the Year, but lost to the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack album.
According to Variety, the upcoming reissue will be available in both physical and digital formats, and will include bonus instrumental and acapella tracks, plus a previously unreleased remix of “BOB” by Zack de la Rocha of Rage Against the Machine.
Exclusive to members of the vinyl subscription service Vinyl Me, Please are physical versions of Stankonia pressed on “black and white galaxy” vinyl, which also come with exclusive art print.
Following Stankonia, André 3000 and Big Boi went on to release two more albums together—2003’s Speakerboxxx/The Love Below and 2006’s Idlewild—before going on hiatus. Both rappers are currently pursuing solo endeavors.
