Offset bares his soul on new single, “Red Room”

From his debut solo album, due out next week.

Migos rapper Offset is gearing up for his solo debut. Yesterday, he dropped its first single, “Red Room,” setting the bar high for the rest of the album.

The single’s slow, Metro Boomin-produced beat affords Offset the opportunity to give listeners a candid look at his own biography, such as his upbringing and a near-fatal car crash he was involved in last year.

How I grew up, my momma was my dad (Momma, huh) / So when I blew up I put her in a pad (Mansion),” he raps. “I like to throw up when I think about the crash (Ugh, ugh) / Not playin’, when I hit the tree I smell the gas (Hey, hey).”

The accompanying music video dramatizes the accident, along with other incidents from his past. “Just a little taste of my life. Hope ya see it in the video!” he said on Instagram.
