Noname sees through to the heart of America on “Song 32”

Another loosie following January’s “Song 31.”

Last month, Noname decided she was going to put out a new track. And now, “Song 32”—the successor to January’s loosie, “Song 31”—has finally arrived.

“I’m more than these hotel rentals and dental bills adding up,” the Chicagoan promises herself. Rather, “I’m America at its best,” she proclaims, reeling off appropriate comparisons and images from “Cardi’s engagement ring” to “patriarchy on Sunday.”

The mellow instrumentation and Noname’s sharp, ironic observations make “Song 32” as good as anything off Room 25, the album she dropped last year.
