NLE Choppa has teamed up with Roddy Ricch for a brand-new single, “Walk Em Down.”
Produced by Loshendrix and CashMoneyAp, the upbeat trap collaboration came about after Choppa personally reached out to Ricch via social media. “I hit Roddy through Instagram,” Choppa told Complex. “I didn’t know if he was even going to respond to me. I’d never DM’d him before. Then we got to talking. He told me, ‘I like to meet the person before I work with them.’ I was like, ‘Shit, me too.’” According to Choppa, the pair hit it off and completed the song in one session.
“Walk Em Down” was released alongside a flashy music video directed by Christian Sutton. In it, the duo vibe out for the camera, showing off their stacks of cash and shiny whips. At one point, the rappers come together on a futuristic set for a little jig. “Yung Joc, in the club with my Glock / You want to play, and then this bitch going down / We ain’t hesitatin’, bullets get to blazin’,” Choppa spits on the chorus.
Their collaboration is expected to appear on Choppa’s forthcoming debut album, Top Shotta. Out later this year, the LP will also feature a more “reggae sound” as compared to his earlier projects, Choppa told Complex. Last year, the Memphis rapper dropped his first-ever EP, Cottonwood.
On the other hand, Ricch dropped the album Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial last December. It spawned the chart-topping hit “The Box,” which received a sleek visual treatment directed by Ricch himself earlier this month.
