NLE Choppa commemorated Father’s Day with an emotional new video for his song, “Letter to My Daughter.”
The Top Shotta-directed clip centers on the rapper’s relationship with his daughter, Clover Brylie, who also celebrated her first birthday on Sunday. The bittersweet track shows a softer side of Choppa as he raps about his love for his young daughter and laments about not being able to see her due to his legal woes.
“Last time I tried to see you, went to jail on that same day / Fightin’ two felonies ’bout you and I got another case,” he spits. “I know I got a daughter that I barely get to see / It haven’t been a couple hours, it’s been since the first week / And lately, I been losing sleep and it’s been hard for me to eat.”
Choppa also accompanied the moving clip with a message that read: “I made this song for the fathers that go through the struggle of being kept away from their child and even the mothers who’s going through the same struggles. Keep that head high, God got us in the long run. The marathon must continue.”
Choppa dedicated the clip and song to his grandmother, who passed away earlier this year. Back in March, the 18-year-old Memphis native was arrested on burglary, weapons and drug charges. He was later released on bail.
NLE Choppa released his last solo single “Final Warning” in April, and also appeared on the Fast and Furious 9 soundtrack that dropped last week.
