NLE Choppa releases debut album, ‘Top Shotta’

With features from Lil Baby, Roddy Ricch, Mulatto and more.

After gaining traction with a series of hit singles, NLE Choppa has released his full-length debut, Top Shotta.

The 17-year-old Memphis native tries out new flows on the compelling effort, which he previewed with “Shotta Flow 5,” “Walk Em Down” featuring Roddy Ricch and “Narrow Road” featuring Lil Baby. The LP also includes assists from Mulatto and Chief Keef.

Late last year, Choppa released his debut EP, Cottonwood. In an interview with Complex, the rapper revealed that the project was just an “appetizer” leading up to his album.

“I’m really just planning it out, trying to just see when’s the right time,” he explained. “Dropping EPs or mixtapes or albums is all strategic. I had to find out when I wanted to drop my album, and then see if [I] have time in between to put an EP out or something like that. And we did.”

Choppa also said he hopes his music will help fans through tough times, rather than just be on their party playlist. “I want to leave an impact on the world for people that suffer from shit,” he declared. “I want to be the reason for them to wake up. When they’re down, I want them to be able to play my songs.”

Accompanying the release of Top Shotta were two music videos, for cuts “Make Em Say” (featuring Mulatto) and “Top Shotta Flow.” Watch them below.
