Nicki Minaj promises Barbz she’ll explain “abrupt” retirement plan

“I’m still right here.”

Nicki Minaj sent her Barbz into a frenzy yesterday after announcing her retirement on social media. The rapper has since assured fans that she’s “still right here” and promised to explain her “abrupt” decision.

On Thursday evening, Minaj revealed on Twitter that she has chosen to retire with plans to settle down and have a family. “I know you guys are happy now,” she wrote. “Keep reppin’ me, do it ’til da death of me.” And to her fans, the rapper added: “Love you for LIFE.”

Although the self-proclaimed Queen of Rap didn’t state when exactly she plans to hang up the mic, the news still sent shock waves through the internet as Minaj’s fanbase of Barbz begged the rapper to formally address and explain her decision to quit music.

“This is not [a] comedy. I am not laughing,” one fan wrote on Twitter while another wondered if the rapper was just “playing with us.”

“Can u please just address this retirement thing,” another fan asked Minaj on Twitter. “[You’ve] never left us so hurt your entire career. We’re just hurting, Nicki.”

Minaj then took to Twitter to clarify her earlier announcement. “I’m still right here. Still madly in love with you guys & you know that,” she promised. The rapper also apologized for being “insensitive” towards her fans, adding that she plans to discuss her retirement plans on her Beats 1 show, Queen Radio, soon. “No guests, just us talking about everything,” Minaj wrote.

In June, Minaj released a new single “Megatron,” her first offering since her 2018 album Queen. Earlier this year, she hinted that she was working on a new album, although nothing was confirmed then.
