Last month, Nicki Minaj made headlines after she announcing that she was quitting music to start a family. Now, the rapper has clarified that she’s not ready to hang up the mic just yet.
In a new interview with The Shade Room published October 20, Minaj explained that her fans had confused the tweet for an official announcement, saying she still had plenty of music in the vault when she posted the tweet. “The retirement was talking about my [new] album, meaning, like, ‘Do I want to go back and record my fifth album? Where do I stand with [retirement] now?’” she explained.
Minaj also added that she felt “hurt” by the outcry from her fans. “I didn’t know my fans were going to act like that with the tweet, and it hurt my feelings. I felt like the way I did it was like insensitive to my fans, I didn’t know it was going to be that big of a deal,” she said. “So that’s why I deleted it because it had like 600,000 likes and it was up for like less than an hour, and it took on a life of its own.”
Although Minaj no longer seeks to be retiring, it appears she’s still planning on tying the knot with her current beau Kenneth Petty. “We’ll definitely do the paperwork portion of the marriage, but the actual wedding, I don’t know,” the rapper revealed to TSR.

You know when you’re a little girl and you want this big beautiful wedding, and I used to think I was one of those girls, I always wanted the fairytale. But then the things that used to matter to you don’t matter as much because I remember wanting those things with people, where real love wasn’t there.
