After releasing several collaborations together over the past few years, Young Money labelmates Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne have revealed that they’d like to release a joint album one day.
On the latest episode of Weezy’s Young Money Radio show, the rapper invited Minaj to discuss her marriage to Kenneth Petty and her history-making “Say So” remix with Doja Cat. They also talked about releasing a possible collaborative album in the near future.
“We doing our joint album. A lot of the fans been asking about it. When we gon’ do this?” Wayne asked, to which Minaj responded, “You already know, your wish is my command.” However, she later admitted that working with Tunechi was nerve-wracking.
“It’s scary. It’s scary to put a verse on something after you put a verse on it,” Minaj told Wayne. She recalled their last collaboration as a daunting experience. “Last time we worked together was ‘Rockstar (Remix).’ The Post Malone remix, remember we did that? Love that. But it’s like me really, really having to think so much… I gotta go hard. I can’t just, you know, wing it. So that’s the only thing I would be scared of.”
Still, Minaj confirmed that she’d be down to release a joint album with Weezy. “I would definitely do it,” she said. “Whenever you say the word.” In response, Wayne said that he’d send her tracks to work on after the show.
Minaj and Wayne have teamed up on a slew of collaborations over the past decade, including 2010’s “Knockout” and 2013’s “High School.” In 2017, they released “No Frauds” with Drake, a follow-up to the trio’s 2014 collab “Only” featuring Chris Brown. Wayne also appeared on Minaj’s Queen cuts, “Good Form” and “Rich Sex.”
