Nicki Minaj drops colorful video for “Barbie Dreams”

With some puppet assists.

Nicki Minaj has dropped a video for “Barbie Dreams,” a standout cut off her album Queen.

The colorful video is the most tongue-in-cheek visual of those released for the Queen campaign so far. Opening with a goofy introduction from a suited puppet, the Hype Williams-directed video features Onika in a dazzling array of wigs and outfits, dancing and vibing out as she raps bawdily about other rappers, from Drake to 50 Cent and Quavo. Come for the cheeky bars, but stick around for the beat change.

Minaj has been embroiled in all manner of controversies lately, from her confrontation with Cardi B at New York Fashion Week to her accusations that Travis Scott gamed the sales of his album Astroworld to snatch the top chart spot from Queen. So it’s nice to see her return to her risqué, fun-loving side.
