Nicki Minaj claims she was joking about an Adele collaboration

“I was being sarcastic,” the rapper tweeted.

Nicki Minaj has retracted her earlier comments about an “epic” Adele collaboration.

On Tuesday, the rapper told Entertainment Tonight that she was teaming up with the English star for a new song. “Adele made me swear to secrecy that I’m not allowed to tell anyone that I’m working with her,” Minaj said. “We already shot a video. And it’s an epic song!”

Later that evening, the rapper walked back her earlier boast on Twitter, saying she was merely kidding. “Omg guys. I thought everyone could clearly see I was being sarcastic,” Minaj tweeted.

However, the rapper jokingly added that she’s willing to “steal” some Adele files after accidentally fueling the anticipation. “Shit! Now I have to go to Adele’s studio and steal some files,” she wrote with laughing emojis. “Who’s in the UK? I got a job for you.”

The fake collaboration news follows Minaj’s abrupt retirement announcement. In a now-deleted tweet, the rapper told her fans that she was planning to hang up the mic in order to “settle down and have a family.” Meanwhile, Adele is rumored to be releasing a brand-new single this Friday.
