NBA YoungBoy arrested by FBI in Los Angeles

Wanted on an outstanding warrant, the rapper had reportedly tried to run from officers.

NBA YoungBoy has been arrested in Los Angeles by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

On March 22, Baton Rouge news outlet WBRZ reported that the Louisiana rapper had tried to flee from LAPD officers after an attempted traffic stop in connection to an outstanding warrant.

YoungBoy—real name Kentrell DeSean Gaulden—allegedly refused to pull over, which ensued in a short pursuit. Officers eventually tracked him down and took the rapper into FBI custody, where he currently remains. WBRZ added that a gun was also discovered in YoungBoy’s car, though it wasn’t confirmed if it had belonged to the rapper at the time.

Following YoungBoy’s arrest, longtime nemesis Kodak Black defended the fellow rapper on social media. During an Instagram Live session, Kodak said wasn’t “happy” that YoungBoy was arrested. “Nah, I ain’t happy YB went to jail,” he denied. “Fuck I’m happy he went to jail for? That was my l’il bro at one point. The fuck I’m happy for? We street n***as, that could be anybody.”

YoungBoy dropped aCyberpunk 2077-inspired single “Toxic Punk” in February. Prior to that, he released Green Dot, a three-song project that included his Nicki Minaj and Mike Will Made-It collab, “What That Speed Bout?!.”
