Nas gets jazzy on new track, “Jarreau of Rap (Skatt Attack)”

Are you ready for ‘The Lost Tapes 2?’

Nas has unveiled the high-energy “Jarreau of Rap (Skatt Attack),” the first offering from his forthcoming The Lost Tapes 2 compilation.

On the jazzy track, Nas spits rapid-fire bars referencing late R&B singer Al Jarreau over vibrant brass provided by trumpeter Keyon Harrold. “I need to golf, need a day to relax / Get a massage, Al Jarreau on the track / Al Jarreau of rap, made the Mets hat / More famous than Strawberry, y’all know this already,” he raps. The track also samples vocals from Jarreau’s 1981 track, “(Round, Round, Round) Blue Rondo à la Turk.”

The Lost Tapes 2 arrives this Friday via Mass Appeal. The record is set to feature production from heavyweights like Pharrell Williams, Kanye West, RZA, Statik Selektah and more. Nas previously dropped “Thriving,” a joint single with Mary J Blige.
