Mozzy has teased his upcoming album, Occupational Hazard, with a video for his new single, “Death is Callin.”
On the track, the Sacramento native raps about the violence he has witnessed in his home city and pays tribute to the friends he’s lost: “I press ignore and I ain’t answer, I think death was callin’ / My youngin died 11th grade, ain’t get a chance to ball him / We gon’ pop these bottles for him, lift your Rollies up / And never speak his name in vain if you gon’ blow it up.”
On the other hand, the accompanying clip follows Mozzy and his posse as they carry out a home invasion. The grainy video’s menacing energy is coupled with effects such as with flickering lighting and hazy edits.
“Death is Callin” will appear on Mozzy’s upcoming album, Occupational Hazard, which arrives on September 22. The LP will be the follow-up to his 2019 record, Internal Affairs. Earlier this year, he released a Narcos-inspired video for the song “Pricetag.”
